Female African American Civil Rights Pioneers: The Road to Brown and Beyond

Professor Beth Hopkins, Wake Forest University Law (Retired). In conversation with JMC staff, Professor Beth Hopkins will share the stories of remarkable women who helped make it possible for African Americans to seek equal access to an education in the United States. In a presentation that will span two centuries, Hopkins will highlight women whose contributions ensured that the doctrine of “separate but equal” had no place in educational institutions.

In partnership with Preservation Virginia and Virginia Museum of History & Culture. Be among the first to experience this restored American treasure. The only surviving judicial robe of Chief Justice John Marshall was recently conserved. This online program previews the new exhibit showcasing the robe at the John Marshall House in Richmond.

Walsh, President of the John Marshall Center for Constitutional History & Civics and Jennifer Hurst-Wender, Director of Museum Operations and Education at Preservation Virginia will also join the conversation to discuss how their organizations are working to preserve the legacy of John Marshall.
